EFAD at the 46th ESPEN Congress 2024

EFAD was pleased to be part of the ESPEN 2024 Congress in Milan, with dietitians making significant contributions alongside leading scientists, physicians, and pharmacists.

Marian de van der Schueren, EFAD Honorary Fellow, was named an Honorary Member of ESPEN for her outstanding contributions to the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM). Marian also shared exciting first results on defining a new conceptual definition of malnutrition risk, a crucial step forward in clinical nutrition.

During the congress, Dr Nicole Erickson, ESDN Oncology Lead, delivered an insightful presentation on the importance of involving family members in shared decision-making for patient care.

The 16th edition of the MNI Grant was awarded to the initiative “Taking the GLIM Framework from Research into Clinical Practice: A Swedish Initiative,” led by Sandra Einarsson from Umeå University, Sweden (EFAD's Education Associate Member).

EFAD also takes this opportunity to express gratitude to Rocco Barazzoni for his leadership and looks forward to continuing our collaboration with ESPEN under its new chairman, Stanislaw Klerk.
