So-Nuts project update
SO-NUTS is a project funded by Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life to support people around retirement to prevent obesity by developing a personalised digital intervention for healthy nutrition and physical activity. EFAD is an important stakeholder and is part of the advisory board. EFAD was present at the consortium meeting in Madrid (June 2022) and contributed to the discussions regarding developing the SO-NUTS intervention and application. Find out more about the project.

Policy Advocacy For Combating Malnutrition in Women and Girls
|
Pandemic lockdowns and containment measures have created four compounding crises that continue to adversely impact women and girls’ nutrition. These are increased poverty, increased food insecurity, reduced access to health services, and extensive school closures. Standing Together for Nutrition (ST4N) has released a policy brief entitled, COVID-19 and Malnutrition: A Toxic Combination for Women and Girls on the ways COVID-19 is disproportionately exacerbating nutrition challenges faced by women and girls around the world. This policy brief calls for COVID-19 response and recovery efforts to be explicitly gender-responsive in their design, scope, and delivery.

A call for a global action to reduce the prevalence of Neural Tube Defects worldwide
The International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) is calling for urgent action demanding universal mandatory food fortification with vitamin B9 (folic acid) to reduce the risk of Spina Bifida, Anencephaly, or Encephalocele, also called Neural Tube Defects (NTDs). Covid-19 still causing 15,000 deaths per week
WHO General Director Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says that learning to live with COVID-19 doesn't mean we pretend it's not there. It means we use all the tools we have to protect ourselves, and protect others. WHO reports currently 15,000 deaths a week from COVID-19. Protect yourself by taking the following steps:
- Get vaccinated (and get your booster)
- Keep a safe distance
- Wear a mask
- Cover sneezes/coughs
- Open windows
- Wash your hands
