Clinical nutrition in primary care: ESPEN position paper with EFAD contributions
|

Primary care healthcare professionals (PCHPs) are pivotal in managing chronic diseases and present a unique opportunity for nutrition-related disease prevention. However, the active involvement of PCHPs in nutritional care is limited, influenced by factors like insufficient education, lack of resources, and time constraints. In this position paper, ESPEN promotes the active engagement of PCHPs in nutritional care, emphasizing the importance of early detection of malnutrition by screening and diagnosis, particularly in all individuals presenting with risk factors such as older age, chronic disease, post-acute disease conditions and after hospitalization for any cause. EFAD, representing Primary Care Dietitians, has contributed to this paper with insights from EFAD's President, Annemieke van Ginkel-Res, and ESDN Primary Care Lead, Isabel Monteiro. Survey for dietitians about ESPEN guidelines
|

The EFAD-ESPEN Working Group was established by EFAD in 2019 to increase dietetic collaboration with the ESPEN community. The working group has developed a questionnaire to gather insight into which source of information European Dietitians and Dietetic Students use within their dietetic practice, how dietitians use the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) guidelines, and if the ESPEN guidelines should have an addendum for dietitians that focuses on the practical implementation of the ESPEN guidelines. HealthyW8 - Annual Meeting in Palma de Mallorca

The HealthyW8 project consortium gathered in Palma de Mallorca for the 1st Annual Meeting on June 3rd and 4th! Partners from across Europe came together at the Hospital Universitario Son Espases (HUSE) to share the first year's insights and drive forward the mission for a healthier future and effective obesity prevention. EFAD was represented by the Project’s Officers Marianna Kalliostra and Ezgi Kolay and EFAD’s Lead on Project Management Katarzyna Janiszewska.
